A busy social calendar at Princess Christian Care Home

We’ve had a busy few weeks here at Princess Christian Care Home, with a visit to Guildford Cathedral for their Christmas carol concert which our residents thoroughly enjoyed, especially when we were treated to mince pies and refreshments.

We also had a super time at a tea dance at the H G Wells Centre over the festive season, enjoying seasonal treats and music.

During Christmas week we had a visit from a local dance school and the children were amazing at showing off their dance moves. Our resident Barry joined in with them doing a rock n roll number! The room was packed with everyone wanting to watch these talented children and they have promised to visit us again soon; one of our residents spoke about it for days after their visit!

We also took our minibus with our penpal residents to visit Westfield Primary School where they laid on a wonderful Christmas party and buffet for us. It was so lovely to see the residents and children interacting. We were treated to the school choir singing carols which we all joined in with. The children had also painted stones with a Christmas theme for their penpals, which our residents proudly took back home with them.

Our Christmas party was a huge success! We had Father Christmas delivering presents to our residents and our Recreation and Well-Being Team worked very hard decorating and giving out Santa hats for our residents to wear. Our singer Lorraine entertained us all and her son also sang a couple of songs, much to our residents’ delight. As usual, our catering team laid on a delicious buffet which was enjoyed by everyone. Our raffle was also a huge success, with lots of lovely prizes to choose from.

On New Year’s day we took around a decorated trolley and served champagne, Buck’s Fizz and mince pies which went down a treat with our ladies and gents!

This week we are having an Elvis Presley tribute act to celebrate Elvis’s birthday, so we are all excited to hear some classic Elvis tunes.

Happy 2020 everyone!
