Colourful Carnival Day at Princess Christian Care Home

We had such a fantastic time on Friday 14 August when we hosted our Carnival Day here at Princess Christian Care Home.

A team effort!

The rain held off, which we were grateful for, as our Activities Team worked from early morning to get all the stalls and decorations set up. Our Catering Team was fully involved too and provided us with delicious cakes, gateaus, fruit platters and ice cream, as well as various juices and smoothies. We also had a popcorn and candy floss stall which proved very popular with our residents!

Games, music and fancy dress

We had hook a duck, a coconut shy, tin can alley, bean bag toss, basketball challenge and a wet sponge target to name a few! All our staff looked amazing in their themed fancy dress, giving the event such colour and atmosphere.

Our residents had great fun using the photo props and everyone enjoyed our lovely singer Najwa entertaining them with well known songs in our garden. Our Manager Mario came along dressed up and had a dance or two, much to everyone’s delight!

Over the course of the day we ran the Carnival three times, to ensure we followed government guidelines regarding social distancing. We also made sure we kept hands and surfaces clean and sanitised so everyone could enjoy the event safely.

A day to remember

Everyone enjoyed getting wrapped cuddly toys as a memento of the day and we’ve had some lovely feedback from our residents, who enjoyed reminiscing about fairgrounds and circuses they’d been to as children. It was such a fantastic day, seeing such big smiles and everyone enjoying themselves. Next month we’ll be hosting an Hawaiian Day, so watch this space!

Huge thanks to everyone who helped make the day such so special for our residents.
