Freedom Party fun for residents and families at Princess Christian Care Home

Here at Princess Christian Care Home we held our first big event since before lockdown last week – our ‘Freedom Party’ – and the lovely Miss Surrey was delighted to cut the ribbon and open the event for us.

At first we thought it was going to be a wash out as we had heavy rain up until an hour beforehand, but then the skies cleared for our special day!

Mobile farm

Our residents and their families loved being together and meeting all the mobile farm animals we had organised for the day; some held chicks and befriended goats and bunnies, whilst others groomed Bob the Shetland pony and Dennis the donkey; the children especially loved this.

Singer Billy and entertainments

We also welcomed one of our regular singers Billy, who had everyone up dancing and singing, and our Activities Team got a conga going with our lovely resident Jan leading the way! A huge bouncy castle was also on offer for visiting children (and parents who were brave enough!).

Due to some very generous donations from local residents and families, we held a large raffle and tombola – with lots of happy winners.

Barbecue heaven!

We were all treated to a delicious barbecue, cooked by Chef Christian and his team, who also prepared some superb cakes, gateaus, smoothies and more!

Friends of Princess Christian

The party was funded by Friends of Princess Christian (FoPC) who are supported by a wonderful group of relatives, friends, staff and volunteers who are involved in the day-to-day running of our Home. Their main aim is to bring families, residents and staff together, and Sylvia Stock who is the Secretary of FoPC gave a talk to everyone who came, encouraging new members to join their community.

Thank yous

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success, including Chef Christian and his team and our amazing Activities Team who worked so hard preparing and setting everything up (in the rain!), many coming in on their days off to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you to Sylvia for all her support and Leo and Jose for delivering chairs and tables for the event. A real team effort!
