Vaccination is the only way out of the Coronavirus pandemic and Princess Christian in Bisley were thrilled to have begun our whole-Home vaccination programme yesterday, Sunday 17 January. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we are a centre of excellence and rank within the top 4% of Care Homes in the UK.
Our Home provides exceptional nursing and dementia care for up to 90 elderly and clinically vulnerable residents. 180 doses of the Oxford vaccine were delivered at 9am on Sunday and thanks to the outstanding organisation of our team, 74% of their 135-strong staff team and 95% of their residents were vaccinated by midday.
The vaccine has been developed in the UK by Oxford University and the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, the second dose of which will be delivered and administered in 12 weeks’ time, concluding the course of injections. Completing the two-dose programme will ensure the best immunity for everyone who receives it.
Effective and safe, the COVID-19 vaccine will reduce the risk of serious illness and save lives; it is absolutely key for everyone that is offered the vaccine to take it up to ensure widespread protection against the virus.
Vaccinated Healthcare staff are much less likely to pass any infection to their friends and family and to the vulnerable people they care for. Staff here at Princess Christian Care Home commented they felt ‘privileged’ to receive the vaccine and it has instilled a real ‘peace of mind’ that they are doing all they can to protect their residents.
Continuing stringent infection control throughout their three Units, along with the strict use of PPE and the vaccination programme, Princess Christian truly is one of the safest Care Homes in Surrey.
