Burns Night shortbread baking at Princess Christian Care Home

On Thursday 25 January we celebrated Burns Night with our residents at Princess Christian Care Home.

This is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scots poems. Burn suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, 25 January, known as Burns Night also called Robert Burns Day or Rabbie Burns Day.

In honour of Robert Burns we held a Cooking Club where our ladies and gents had the opportunity to make tasty Scottish shortbread. They rolled, shaped and cut the dough into biscuit shapes all ready for baking.

Once cooked, we served their delicious treats with afternoon tea and coffee for everyone to enjoy. Great work!

As part of the celebration we hosted some quizzes and bingo with a Scottish theme, and enjoyed poems by Robert Burns. We also tried to get our Manager Mario to wear a kilt, but no luck!!
