Princess Christian Finalists for The Great British Care Awards 2021

The regional finals of one of the most prestigious series of Care industry events has begun and the South East regional finals of The Great British Care Awards will take place this Saturday 6 November at Brighton’s Hilton Hotel.

Proud ‘Putting People First’ Finalist

Our wonderful Senior Care Assistant, Michelle Royle, was nominated by a former resident for the ‘Putting People First’ award and is thrilled to have been selected as a finalist. Tracy Ostler’s nomination entry commented:

“When I came to Princess Christian Care Home, Michelle was one of the first one-to-one Carers I had. She was warm, bright, friendly, and welcoming. Michelle was the main person who encouraged me to eat to help gain weight and get the right nutrients, as I needed to build muscle to work with my Physiotherapist, to start to repair from my hip replacement surgery. She helped me to take my first few steps by holding my hands and helping me walk. Without her encouragement, I probably would not have got through it and walked again.”

Michelle said, “All I can say is that I love my job and everyone is a winner. It’s all about team work!”

Up for ‘Frontline Leader Award’

Our hardworking and dedicated Home Manager, Nisha Leo, was nominated for the ‘Frontline Leader Award’ by Princess Christian’s General Manager, Mario Taherian, and she’s delighted to have been selected as a finalist. Mario’s nomination included these comments:

“Nisha is a great leader and has brought in so many changes that have had a great effect on all our residents’ lives. Nisha elevated person-centred care to new heights at Princess Christian. Her leadership has helped the Care Home to achieve an outstanding CQC rating and to overcome many challenges faced during COVID-19. I am enormously proud to work with Nisha and I am always impressed with the quality of work and commitment to our residents’ care. I strongly recommend Nisha Leo for this year’s frontline leader of the year.”

Nisha said, “I feel really proud to be nominated for this award. My heartfelt thanks to all my colleagues and everyone who supported me.”

‘The Care Team Award’ Finalists

The whole Care Team at Princess Christian are very excited to have been nominated for ‘The Care Award’ by Sylvia Stock, a celebrated author and advocate for the Home. Sylvia’s husband Brian lived at the Home for many years, and she now heads up The Friends of Princess Christian group as Secretary.

Sylvia has first-hand experience of our amazing care team and proudly supports Princess Christian for The Care Team Award
