Over the last few weeks, team members Christine, Hayley and Carol, along with their husbands and some help from our resident John, have been coming to work on their (very rainy!) days off to help build a home for our new four-legged team members at Princess Christian Care Home.
We are delighted to welcome:
- Two rabbits: Truffle and Pumpkin
- Two guinea pigs: Cookie and Fudge
- A tortoise called Banana
We have now successfully completed phase one of our ‘Pet Therapy Corner‘ and our residents can either support our team with the care of these animals, or simply have a cuddle during our weekly Pet Therapy sessions.
Our new animals were re-homed from a Pet Therapy company, so are used to be handled on a regular basis.
Phase two of our Pet Therapy Corner will be relocating our chickens to a walk-in run for our residents, so they can access, feed and interact with them. We will also be making the entire area wheelchair accessible in the coming months.
We are all so excited by this project and the arrival of our new friends, who we know will be very much loved.
