Romanian Day at Princess Christian Care Home

On Thursday 7 October we held a special ‘Romanian Day’ here at Princess Christian Care Home.

Our Recreation and Well-Being Team worked hard decorating our Home with bunting and flags, and our residents helped out too.

Our ladies and gents also enjoyed some Romanian crafts including wooden spoon painting – we certainly had some colourful designs!

Our Head Chef Cosmin worked with his team and supplied a very tasty buffet and our lovely Romanian colleagues Doina from our laundry and Ionela from our Care Team also cooked and brought in delicious traditional foods for everyone to try, including;

  • Sarmale (cabbage rolls with meat, rice and spices)
  • Mici (a mix meat of pork, beef and spices)
  • Beans stew with sausage
  • Stuffed peppers
  • Polenta witch cheese
  • Cozonac (sweet bread with walnuts and Turkish delight)
  • Non alcoholic lemon beer and pear juice

Our Romanian staff also proudly dressed up in Romanian outfits, which some of our residents had great fun trying on. Our Manager Mario looked quite dapper in a traditional waistcoat!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day really special.
