Sunshine and rainbows at Princess Christian Care Home

The last few weeks here at Princess Christian have meant a busy time for the amazing care workers in our Home. However, despite the restrictions of lockdown as we try to protect our residents from COVID-19, we are working hard to bring fun and laughter to their day, every day.

Mother’s Day celebrations

Back in March we had a lovely celebration for Mother’s Day with a singer and all our ladies received a plant basket. And of course, it wouldn’t be a celebration without a cuppa and a delicious cake!

A happy, chocolatey Easter

Sadly, our Easter party was cancelled but we still had a lovely, chocolatey time here! We made lots of chocolate cakes and cookies, as well as having lots of eggs to hand out to our residents. Some of our ladies and gents enjoyed making Easter hats and some also tried their hand at decorating eggs.

Lovely sunshine

With the recent beautiful, sunny weather we have been taking full advantage of our courtyard gardens by having tea parties outside! Other residents have enjoyed cuddles with our friendly cat.

Keeping in touch

Staying in touch with their loved ones is essential for our residents; they connect with their families every day, which they adore. We have also received lots of wonderful letters and cards from local children who heard our residents were in lockdown; they sent them some delightful letters along with ideas of games and puzzles they could do.

One of the beautifully written letters reads, “Hello my name is Daisy! I am nine years old! I am so sorry to hear that not only you but but many other people are being kept in isolation due to Coronavirus. So I hope my letter will cheer you up. What is your name? Do you like animals? I love them! What is your favourite colour? Mine’s purple! Thank you for reading my letter. I hope it cheered you up! From Daisy x”

Rainbows

Rainbows are fast becoming a symbol of hope during the UK lockdown – even the Queen said so! We are having fun decorating the Home with bright and cheery rainbows to show our respect for all key workers in this difficult time.
